Believe in Yourself, Believe in the God Factor Within You

It’s difficult to believe that you can do much when you consider how small you are in the context of the Universe. But when you believe in something or someone greater than yourself, the possibilities are endless. You realize that the greatness of the Universe is already inside you.

Part of my journey was learning to trust and believe in God. When you anchor your life to Him, you are drawing on an endless resource of hope and strength. In times when you doubt yourself, you can cling to the fact that He is looking out for you. When I finally learned to see myself in His eyes, I realized I am part of a bigger picture.

What do you believe? Be it God, an Ultimate Source, a Creator, or the Universe — having faith in a Higher Power leads you to believe and hope in yourself.

I became more intentional in choosing to see myself the way God sees me. Every day, I proclaim these as my truths. Even if at the beginning I didn’t believe in them, I proclaimed them as if I did. I developed a more grateful attitude and regularly connected with God through prayer.

I also became more intentional in positively connecting with myself by writing in my journal stories of success, gratitude, and growth. The more I immersed myself in these practices, the more I started to believe in myself.

There are still bad days when my self-belief dissolves.

When this happens, I hold on to my faith in God and recall His promises:

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”

(Jeremiah 29:11, NRSV)
