What is stopping you from reaching your dreams?
What is keeping you from taking that first step towards being your best self and living your best life?
Where is your resistance coming from?
There was a time during my personal growth journey when I kept on going back to my old ways.
Even though I knew better. Even though I knew what I needed to do. Even though I kept on declaring that I’m turning over a new leaf because I’m so sick and tired of being sick and tired – I still found myself sabotaging my progress and sliding several steps behind.
It’s not a fun cycle to be in. And I just want to get out of it.
I would often ask myself, “What’s the point of all this fighting and surviving if it seems like life doesn’t want me to win anyway?”
I’ve lost count of the many times I contemplated on just giving up and ending my struggle.
It wasn’t until I accepted where I was, that I realized that this, too, is part of the process of transforming one’s life.
For years, we’ve taken on these identities. For years, we believed these limiting beliefs, lies, and skewed perception planted in our minds. For years, we followed a certain programming that had steadily and formidably ingrained in us over the course of our lives.
When you think about it – it’s ludicrous to expect ourselves to change overnight.
There will be many fears that will come up along the way.
There will be a choice we have to make day by day, moment to moment:
“Am I willing to take on the pain of uncovering old wounds, challenging who I know myself to be right now, and building myself back up?”
The process will not be easy.
It will require of us to be brutally honest with ourselves and shed our protective walls. We have to be willing to be deeply vulnerable and shine a light to our darkness.
This will be a journey, not an overnight event.
It will ask of us to invest dedicated time, focused energy, and even, lots of money.
This will be uncomfortable.
It will ask of us to let go of what’s known, certain, and familiar so we can trek the unknown, uncertain, and unfamiliar.
Some people are not willing to be uncomfortable.
Some people are not willing to let go of their familiar pain to welcome in their lives an unfamiliar uncertainty. (Even if what’s waiting is a good kind of uncertainty.)
And that’s okay. To each their own, right?
But at the end of the day – whatever choice you make – you have to be willing and ready to accept the consequences of your choice.
And if you’re not satisfied with what’s happening – then what are you going to do about it?
Something has got to give.
What will it be for you?
You Are Not Alone,
P.S.
