Have You Ever Been Triggered?

Have you ever been triggered?

Whether it’s a person, an event, a memory, a place, a thing, or even a season…

Chances are, at one point in your life, you’ve been triggered and this has caused you to react strongly.

On the surface, this might be a “bad” thing.

I mean, who would want to let out the “ugly” side of ourselves?

That part of us, which gives in to those “negative” feelings and emotions, such as anger, jealousy, envy, bitterness, and hate.

But what if we lose those labels?

There are no “positive” and “negative” feelings and emotions.

Let’s just see them for what they truly are: feelings and emotions.

They are part of our humanity. And they give us valuable feedback.

Now what if instead of running away and hiding from our emotions, we take on our Curious Hat and explore the gifts they bring?

COACHING QUESTIONS FOR YOUR SELF-EXPLORATION:

✒️ What is one thing that greatly triggers me?

✒️ What is the feeling and emotion that comes whenever I get triggered?

✒️ What is really going on here? Why am I getting triggered?

Keep in mind that when you ask these questions, your intention is not to play the blame game, the pity game, or even the guilty game.

Have an agreement with yourself that you are asking these questions to get to know yourself more, to explore your inner world, and find the gifts that your feelings and emotions bring.
