Last month, I attended a Vision Board Party hosted by Vision Board Coach, Trixie Esguerra. It is such an awesome event and I’m grateful I got to be a part of it.
The thing is, I wasn’t originally there to be a participant.
Month of December, Trixie was looking for event partners for her Vision Board Party. I’m not so sure what I can offer and what she needs from her event partners, but I still messaged her and told her that I’m interested to be an event partner.
Lo and behold, I received a message from Trixie. She asked what I can offer. I felt so small and unsure at that time because I feel like I don’t really have much to offer. Honestly, I was expecting her to just give me a list of what she needs and then I’ll see where I could squeeze myself in. But she didn’t.
I had to dig deep and ask myself, what can I offer?
I tried hosting before but I felt like such a flop at that. And really, hosting for one of The Most Sought-After Events Host in the country?!?! Oh dear, I don’t think I have what it takes. But I can be an usher, a greeter, a helper. So I just thought of a unique way of positioning myself and told her that I can be her Happiness Fairy for that day. 😊
She said yes!
Days before the event, she called to brief me for the event. Guess what? I was asked to do a little bit of hosting. Just to start the event and give short announcements in the middle of the event. Trixie, of course, asked if it’s okay with me to do that.
When we are being asked to step out of our comfort zone – it’s so easy to say no and just stay in our bubble of comfort.
When we are being asked to do something that we thought and felt we failed at before – it’s so easy to say, “I already tried doing that and I wasn’t any good at it. I’ll pass.”
When we are being asked to grow and be fucking uncomfortable – it’s so easy to say, “I’m good where I’m currently at. I don’t need the added pressure to grow and be someone I’m not.”
It’s the same with me.
I could have easily told Trixie that I’d rather just welcome the participants and help in distributing materials, cleaning up, etc. I could have easily told her that I’m not really good at hosting and energizing the crowd. And I think she would have understand and will not push.
That’s totally fine with me…Except…
I highly value my growth and that is why I want to be intentional and deliberate in taking baby steps outside my comfort zone. I set the intention that this year, I am going to stay in service, not my ego. No matter what. My approach in life is to experiment, explore, execute, and evolve.
That’s it.
I’m not doing this to gain praise and recognition. I’m not doing this to be well-liked and popular. I’m not doing this to stroke my ego.
I’m doing this because I want to show up for myself no matter what.
And that day, during the Vision Board Party, I did show up for myself. I even surprised myself by doing something I never thought I would do in front of a live audience. I sang and shared with them one of my original song compositions. All because, I was inspired by my Spirit to do just that.
That’s the thing about showing up (for yourself). When you say yes to the invitation, your Spirit will take you in places you never even thought possible for yourself. You are ready to take that baby step, but your Spirit will give you wings to fly. All you need to do is show up, no matter what.
Now let me ask you, ARE YOU READY TO SHOW UP, NO MATTER WHAT?
Live Fully,
P.S.
In case you’re wondering, below is the vision board I created during that event. 😉
